The Royal Horticultural Society has confirmed that its 2027 calendar will include a new show in Bristol, joining the long‑standing Malvern Spring Festival and Chelsea Flower Show.
New Bristol event set for July
From 8 July to 11 July, the Prospect Building in Bristol will host the Society’s first full‑scale show in the city. The venue’s indoor galleries and outdoor courtyard are slated for a “botanical takeover,” featuring pop‑up plant displays, expert talks, hands‑on workshops and immersive experiences.
Organisers say the event aims to reach city gardeners who may only have a windowsill or a modest balcony. By placing the show in a busy urban centre, the RHS hopes to inspire a wider audience while maintaining the horticultural standards visitors expect from its larger exhibitions.
Return of Tatton Park Flower Show
After a three‑year hiatus, the RHS Flower Show will return to Tatton Park in Cheshire, running from 21 July to 25 July 2027. The five‑day program will include show gardens, floral exhibits, specialist growers and a series of talks. Young Designer Gardens will also feature, offering a platform for emerging talent in the horticultural sector.
James Wren, the Society’s director of development and shows, noted that the revival of the Cheshire event “celebrates the North West and its proud horticultural community.” The statement highlights the RHS’s intent to balance new locations with established regional shows.
These additions form part of a touring model the RHS introduced in 2024, which rotates shows to different venues each year. Recent examples include the Wentworth Woodhouse event in 2025 and the Badminton and Sandringham shows held this year. The strategy is designed to broaden access and introduce horticulture to new audiences.
For many urban residents, the Bristol show could become a practical resource. A city‑dweller with limited space may find the workshops on container planting or vertical gardens directly applicable, turning a small balcony into a seasonal showcase.
Gardening brings communities together.
Beyond the headline events, the RHS will continue to host seasonal shows and plant society gatherings at its gardens across the United Kingdom. The Malvern Spring Festival is scheduled for 6 May to 9 May, while the Chelsea Flower Show will take place 18 May to 22 May.
As the calendar fills out, the RHS expects the combination of new and returning shows to sustain interest among both seasoned gardeners and newcomers alike.
